A Letter from Katie to My Christian Fulton County Friends

Okay… so I am paraphrasing my title.  I was reading 2 Corinthians chapter 6 and I am compelled by the Holy Spirit to write to you exactly what Paul wrote to the people in Corinth in 56 A.D.

Chapter 6: 3-18

We live in such a way that not one will stumble because of us, and no one will find fault with our ministry.  In everything we do, we show that we are true ministers of God.  We patiently endure troubles and hardships and calamities of every kind.  We have been beaten been put in prison, faced angry mobs, worked to exhaustion, endured sleepless nights, and gone without food.  We prove ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience, our kindness, by the Holy Spirit within us, and by our sincere love.  We faithfully preach the truth.  God’s power is working in us.  We use the  weapons of righteousness in the right hand for attack and the left hand for defense.  We serve God whether people honor us or despise us, whether they slander us or praise us.  We are honest, but they call us impostors.  We are ignored, even thought we are well known.  We live close to death, but we are still alive.  We have been beaten, but we have not been killed.  Our hearts ache, but we always have joy.  We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others.  We own nothing, and yet we have everything.

Oh, dear Fulton County (Corinthian) friends!  I have spoken honestly with you, and my heart is open to you.  There is no lack of love on my part, but you have withheld your love from us.  I am asking you to respond as if you were my own children.  Open your hearts to us!  Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers.  How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness?  How can light live with darkness?  What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil?  How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever?  And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols?  For we are the temple of the living God.  As God said:

“I will live in them and walk among them.

I will be their God, and they will be my people.

Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord

Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you.

And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

This letter is going directly to those of you who support the Democratic platform.  I dare say you are making a pact with the Devil himself.  You are siding with darkness.  Hillary wants to change our constitution and the way we think.  Especially with abortion and homosexuality.

Ask yourself these questions?

1.Am I living in such a way that no one will stumble because of me?  Do your friends know that abortion and homosexuality is against God’s design?  Do they know that homosexuality is an abomination to God?

The Bible doesn’t speak of homosexuality very often; but when it does, it condemns it as sin.  Let’s take a look.

  • Leviticus 18:22, “You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.”1
  • Leviticus 20:13, “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them.”
  • 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, “Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”
  • Romans 1:26-28, “For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper.”

Homosexuality is clearly condemned in the Bible.  It undermines God’s created order where He made Adam and Eve, a man and a woman, to carry out his command to fill and subdue the earth (Genesis 1:28). Homosexuality cannot fulfill that mandate. Also, homosexuality undermines the basic family unit of husband and wife which is the God-ordained means of procreation.  Again, homosexuality cannot do that. And, believe it or not, homosexuality is also dangerous to society. (See Is homosexuality dangerous? for the statistics)

Homosexuality has a heavy judgment administered by God Himself upon those who commit it and support it.

Romans 1:26-27, “For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.”

As a result of being “given over”, they can no longer see the error of what they are doing.  They will not seek forgiveness, and they will not repent.  They will then die in their sins and face God’s righteous condemnation. But, their rebellion against God does not stop there.  Those who are judged by God this way, also promote their sin and condemn others who don’t approve of their behavior.

Romans 1:32, “…and, although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.”

So, in their “hearty approval” of homosexuality, they encourage others to accept their practice, and so their sin and rebellion against God spread. This means they will reject Christ’s redemptive work on the cross.  Without Jesus, they will have no forgiveness.  Without forgiveness, they will have no salvation. Without salvation, there is only damnation in eternalhell.  We Christians don’t want this for anyone.  We want them to experience the great love of God through the person and work of Christ who died for our sins (1 Peter 2:24).

2.  Are you letting other’s think abortion is okay?

God speaks very clearly in the Bible on the value of unborn children. God’s Word says that He personally made each one of us, and has a plan for each life: Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart. —Jeremiah 1:5 Even before I was born, God had chosen me to be His. —Galatians 1:15 For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb… Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be. —Psalm 139:13, 16 Your hands shaped me and made me… Did You not clothe me with skin and flesh and knit me together with bones and sinews? You gave me life. —Job 10:8-12 This is what the Lord says—He who made you, who formed you in the womb —Isaiah 44:2 Did not He who made me in the womb make them? Did not the same One form us both within our mothers? —Job 31:15 Because man is made in God’s own image (Genesis 1:27), each life is of great value to God: Children are a gift from God. —Psalm 127:3 He even calls our children His own: You took your sons and daughters whom you bore to Me and sacrificed them… You slaughtered My children. —Ezekiel 16:20,21 The Bible says of our Creator, In His hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of every human being —Job 12:10 God, the giver of life, commands us not to take the life of an innocent person: Do not shed innocent blood. —Jeremiah 7:6 Cursed is the man who accepts a bribe to kill an innocent person —Deuteronomy 27:25 You shall not murder. —Exodus 20:13 Taking the life of the unborn is clearly murder— He didn’t kill me in the womb, with my mother as my grave. —Jeremiah 20:17 —and God vowed to punish those who… ripped open the women with child —Amos 1:13 The unborn child was granted equal protection in the law; if he lost his life, the one who caused his death must lose his own life: If men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman, and she gives birth prematurely, but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined …if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life. —Exodus 21:22,23 Life is a gift created by God, and is not to be taken away by abortion. God is “pro-choice,” but He tells us clearly the only acceptable choice to make: I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live —Deuteronomy 30:19

I have been heavily  criticized for my out spoken words about what the Bible says about both of these things.  Especially homosexuality.  I have been called a bigot, a homophobic, a narrow minded b*tch.  But it’s okay. The Lord has trained me well and it really doesn’t affect me.  I have been called a lot worse, it’s just this time I find complete joy in knowing my mind and heart is completely aligned with God’s plans.

So am I telling you who you should vote for? Yes I am.  If you vote for the Democratic party you will be not only allowing others to stumble but you will also be changing the thinking of what is right and wrong.  The Devil knows that if he controls our thinking than he controls us and our gay friends.  And he finds great delight in that.  He knows that many Christians will also fall into this false thinking if the Democrats are elected.  I dare say you will be responsible for many to stumble and not ever find their way to the Lord.  And I say shame on you!!

Abortion is wrong!  No matter what has happened in a women’s life God has created that little baby.  No matter if it’s an 11 year old who was sexually raped by a father.  God knows both of these children.  He will take care of them how HE sees fit.  His plans are always for good.    He knew about them even before they were born.

When we are born again , the Holy Spirit begins to work His new creation in us, and there will come a time when there is nothing remaining of the old life.  Our old gloomy outlook disappears, as does our old attitude towards things, and “all things are of God (2 Corinthians 5:18) How are we going to get a life that has no lust, no self-interest, and is not sensitive to the ridicule of others?  How are we have the type of love that is kind…is not provoked, and thinks no evil?”  By having only simple, perfect trust in God-such a trust that we no longer want God’s blessings, but only want God Himself!!  (Oswald Chambers)

I’m praying you will vote for the Republican Party this elections cycle.  Because we can disagree on all the other issues, but these two issues are VERY clear!  God wants you to vote for life and against homosexual marriage.  Image result for republican picture

Shame and Humiliation: Why it’s a good thing.

Image result for god forgets our sins

When you come to Christ and confess that you are a sinner, God himself not only forgives, but He forgets all of your sins.  God is Holy and there is no place in His character to remember our sins.

Four sins in our culture that are killing us.

Image result for abortion is okay

The argument all people use to sin.  Thinking they do not have a choice, but yet they debunk their own arguments by saying things like this, it’s my choice!   And yes being a gay person, addict, over weight, and choosing abortion is your choice.  God loves us so much He let us have free will, we are not robots. I choose to BE a Christian and FREE from all sin.  Because Jesus is the one that renews my mind, body, and spirit.

This is what God says about your body and mind,

“I have the right to do anything,” you say — but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything” — but I will not be mastered by anything. You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. By His power God raised the Lord from the dead, and He will raise us also. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ Himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!…

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. (From the Bible)

Wow! This is definitely an in-your-face, tell-it-like-it-is, no-holds-barred description of what God considers to be the right and wrong use of our bodies. In this and other passages of Scripture we learn five radical truths about our bodies that run counter-culturally to everything you hear today.

It is in the place of humiliation that we find our true worth to God-that is where our faithfulness is revealed.  Oswald Chambers

It is a slippery slop when you try and make sin guilt free.  Jeremiah 6:15 says, ” Are they ashamed of their detestable conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when I punish them,” says the LORD.

So shame on us when we lie to the people we love about what sin is, and when we say nothing it is just like lying.  Not only will you be a false teacher you are causing them to sin too.  The question is does this put you into Heaven?  By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments. The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him: the one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked. (NASB) 1 John 2:3-6

If it was not for the shame and quilt I felt I would have never even needed God for forgiveness and mercy.  When I came to know Christ I asked for forgiveness for my sin.  I came to Him dirty.  I had no idea of all the filth I was still carrying.  But everyday I seem to find something I need forgiveness for.  Today it’s more about the invisible things hidden in me instead of the outward things.

So what has our culture and government said is okay

  1.  Gay Pride!

Gay Pride

“Being gay is natural , hating gay is a lifestyle choice”

I am here to tell you God did not make anyone Gay! (I remember when gay meant happy)  God puts homosexuality in the same category as sleeping with animals, incest, pedophilia, and polygamy. Just like God did not make me fat, or a liar, a murder, or an adulterer, He also did not make me a alcoholic or a drug addict.  Until you understand that God wants a relationship with you and you understand how much He loves you, you will never change.  You must ask for forgiveness and actually want to change.  It’s through this SHAME and HUMILIATION, that God will bring you to your knees and He will work miracles in you.  If you have no shame then why would you change?  And just because you are gay and have a Bible verse tattooed on your arm does not get you into heaven either.  When the women, who was an adulterer, was going to be stoned… When they kept on questioning him (Jesus), he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”  But then he told the women “Go and sin no more!”  Once you know Jesus not only do you enter an eternal relationship with him but you no longer what to sin.  This was humiliation for this women.  John 8:7

2. Shaming the Sick: Addiction and Stigma

Man in despair facing mirror

While I completely understand the reason why we are trying to get the stigma out of recovery, I also think addiction is a sin that people need to have some guilt and humiliation.  We need to be very careful that we don’t make it okay for people to start up drug use in the first place.  His humiliation was necessary (1) to execute the purpose of God (Acts 2:23, 24; Psalm 40:6-8)  It’s my shame that commands I change.

“I am a 56 year old black gay women, who has been shooting heroin since the age of 11. I don’t have HIV or AIDS. I can honestly say it’s because I choose not to share needles. I didn’t have to share needles because I COULD ALWAYS find a harm reduction center where I could get clean new sets. If not for that I believe I would be one of millions with the disease.”

Please do not misunderstand me I am extremely glad that she does not have a diseases, but I have seen many people who are happy they can still use drugs and not have to worry about this.  There is no shame in SOME cases.  Then why would they ever need God is what they are doing is okay?

Just this week I (Katie Whiteman) noticed duster.  And my temptation was…”I wonder what that feels like to be high off of duster?”  I picked it up looked at it and even sprayed it to see how it works.  Then I prayed, “Lord get rid of this tempting thought.”  And He did.  I put it down.  Then I thought about how much shame and humiliation I would have brought to my family and to God if I gave into this temptation.  You see when you love the Lord you no longer think about yourself.  Your choices and thoughts are based on whether I will shame others in my life or God himself.

3. Beauty Doesn’t Have a Weight Limit?  Big is Beautiful?  No fat is not beautiful or healthy.

Image result for big is beautiful

With obesity and diabetes being the number one preventable diseases in the world and the number one killer, even over drug abuse, it’s no wonder God does not want us to be fat.

I know this may be a touchy topic for people, me included.  But I can tell you from personal experience that being over weight is not beautiful or healthy.  I made up a lot of excuses for my weight.  But it’s shame and humiliation that made me ask God for help.  God does not want us to  be unhealthy.  Every time I would over eat I would feel shame and rightfully so.  I’m not perfect in this area, but God wants me to glorify Him and over eating and being unhealthy does not do this.

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthans 10:31

And put a knife to your throat if you are given to appetite  Proverbs 23:2  Ouch!! (Please do not actually do this, but it’s important to control your eating, or over indulging on anything)  This verse is not only about food, could be sex, alcohol, or impure thoughts.

Be not among drunkards or among gluttonous eaters of meat, for the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and slumber will clothe them with rags. Proverbs 23: 20-21

4.  Abortion

Image result for abortion is okay

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5

This just speaks for it self.  No guilt or shame has brought many to make selfish choices of aborting babies.  And my come-back to this person is, “I am so glad your mom did not abort you, God loves you and I am so glad you are here.”

“I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.
26 Review the past for me, let us argue the matter together; state the case for your innocence.

When you come to Christ and confess that you are a sinner, God himself not only forgives, but He forgets all of your sins.  God is Holy and there is no place in His character to remember our sins.

One last thing.  If you are thinking your sin is okay and you are doing good works, you will also not enter into heaven.  You can try and be as good as you want but God is not going to accept you into Heaven by this merit alone.

The “good works” of unsaved people are “dead”, and are as “filthy rags” to God.

But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses [are] as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Isaiah 64:6   Commentary on this verse by Matthew Henry

How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Hebrew 9:14

So it is by Faith alone you are saved by His Grace!!

I tell the truth even when you don’t like it.  Just keeping it real.
