No Time for Apathy and What Would Jesus Do?

Let’s face it the World is groaning under the weight of sin, especially our very own beautiful United States of America.  How did we get to this point?

Jeremiah 6:15 says this.   “Are they ashamed of their detestable conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when I punish them,” says the LORD.

Christians have once again ignored the small subtle signs of compromise and the chipping away of our culture.  We did not say anything when people where doing something wrong.  Why I wonder?  Was it because we didn’t care?  Did we think God would just work it all out?  Where we too caught up in our own selfishness to address things that are just wrong?  Or my suspicion if you are a little like me you didn’t want people to be upset with you and you just wanted to love people by keeping the peace. We have hoped that by just throwing up a prayer to God that everything would be ok?  Or did you think you would be ok that’s good enough?

Zachariah 8:17  Don’t scheme against each other. Stop your love of telling lies that you swear are the truth. I hate all these things, says the LORD.”  I would venture to say that if you don’t say anything at all that is the same as lying.  I am not sure why we would lie to someone or not let someone know that what they are doing is wrong especially if it’s going to effect their Salvation!

Dear Christians we need to speak up in this culture!  People are no longer blushing under their sin any more!  Their is a spiritual war going on in our country and some of us are asleep!

Someone said to me, “It seems like you do not tolerate any sin?”  WHAT!!???  Of coarse I don’t!  God is a Holy and Righteous God and we can not be in Heaven with him if we do not humble ourselves before Him and ask for His FORGIVENESS!  We ALL need to REPENT of our sin.  We have spent too much time with wishy washy theology!  There are people in our culture who honestly think if you have a gay marriage, or smoke pot, or get an abortion, or commit lust in your heart, or hate someone, or lie, or slander, or curse, get drunk, etc….  what ever it is then it’s acceptable!  No it all separates us from God!  The problem though is not our sin, it’s that we have no more shame about it.  No guilt nor remorse.  God says this, “You are neither hot nor cold you are warm I will spit you out for I do not even know you.”  If you don’t care about your sin and say this is just me  the Bible says this, “People may be right in their own eyes, but the LORD examines their heart.”  Proverbs 21:2

So how do we deal with people who are Anti God?  Jesus said this, “But I say, do not resist an evil person! If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also.” Matthew 5:39.  (Please notice it does not promote not protecting yourself from someone trying to hurt you physically.  The Bible is very clear that we can protect ourselves if our lives are in danger.  This verse has to do more with insults.)

Jesus said this,

“Don’t waste what is holy on people who are unholy. Don’t throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you.”  Matthew 7:6

So if you tell someone they are a sinner and what they are doing is wrong and that they need to be right with God in order to get to Heaven, they mock you and try to make you think your an idiot then do no waste your time with them.  They do not want to hear what you have to say.  This is where wisdom comes in handy.  There are also many proverbs about this.

Lastly, ” But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.”  Be sure dear Christian you do not call someone an idiot.  These are also Jesus’s words.  Jesus calls people other things like dogs, swine, hypocrites, blasphemer, fools, mockers, but he does not want us to insult someone by saying they are too stupid to understand.  Be careful your heart does not grow bitter to the unbelievers.
