Satan is masterful at taking a blessing of God and turning it into something that brings a curse instead. If given the chance, he’ll convince you to seek the pleasures of sex outside of marriage: to exchange the worship of the Creator for the worship of the creation; to substitute what is convenient for what is obedient. The temptation will be cunning, the promise inviting. But as Adam and Eve discovered, the painful consequences will far outweigh the temporary pleasures. (NLT)
For many Christians, resisting temptation is difficult because they don’t want to discourage it completely. God promised a way out…
1 Corinthians 10:13 – 13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (NLT)
In the beginning the Lord made man and he made women to be a helper. The woman is supposed to be the assistant coach. The assistant coach gives advise, input and even teaches; to the family and church, but only under male leadership. The woman is NEVER to be the head coach who makes the decisions for the team (family and church). Man is to be the head coach to the family and church. They are the spiritual leaders. Women are to submit to their authority. As a woman, we are to only be teaching and training if the man agrees it is godly and righteous. Of course, if the man is not godly this is way more difficult, but women are still to be submissive to man’s authority. (This is a whole different topic to address, and I will not do it in this post)
Think back to the beginning of time. Eve is the one who listened to the serpent, she was convinced. (Genesis 3:6). She saw that it was beautiful and it’s fruits look delicious and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. She took the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband who was with her and he ate it too!!
Dear sisters, are you eating from the “beautiful fruit” of false women teachers like Ann Voskamp, Lisa TerKeurst, Beth Moore, Joyce Meyer, or Sarah Young? (or anyone I did not mention)? If you want to know if you are involved with a false teacher you can look them up and there are many articles about these women and their false teaching. (I will let you do this on your own if you truly wish to not be lead in the wrong direction).
Are you being tempted as Eve was? And are you fooling your husband and your church to be involved with these women? Maybe not on purpose, but I am sure you wish it was not true about these women. They are hard to resist. You may even dismiss what I say just because you appreciate their writings and teachings. They speak to your heart. They are friendly, kind, and humble. But I say they are sinning and causing many others to sin.
Genesis 3:16 To the woman he said,“I will sharpen the pain of your pregnancy, and in pain you will give birth. And you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you.”
Genesis 3:17 And to the man he said, “Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you.”
I hope you noticed what God said about us ladies. We will desire to control our husband, but God also said HE WILL RULE OVER YOU! It seems to me no matter what we desire concerning our husbands they will rule over us no matter what.
Concerning the church, we ladies must also understand what scripture says about women and their role in the church. I think that if we are to submit to our husbands that this does not mean it does not apply to women leading a church. We still have to submit to their authority at church also, not just in the home. I find it to be impossible for a female pastor leading a church to also be able to submit to her husband when she is leading him and other men in the the church. It never adds up.
Apostle Paul says, “But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.” 1 Corinthians 11:3 Please be mindful that in scripture man can be used to mean everyone, but in this instance this means the male.
“Let a women learn quietly and submissively. I do not permit a women to exercise authority over man; rather she is to remain silent. for Adam was formed first, then Eve, and Adam was not deceived, but the women was deceived and became a transgressor. Yet she will be saved through child bearing- IF they continue in faith and love and holiness with self control. (the birth spoken of here is the birth of Jesus) 1 Timothy 2:11-15
1 Peter 3:7 (Even Peter had something to say about this) 7 “Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.”
There are four things these passages say about women.
- Women are easily deceived
- Women are the weaker partner
- Women need to submit to their husbands
- Men and women are equal heirs to the gracious gift of Jesus, eternal life.
And you know what…It’s okay. We need to accept that as women we are the weaker in very many ways, but this weakness also makes our role so very important in this world.
Dear sisters this is no ancient writing that is for the church back then. We need to realize that we are the weaker sex, but necessary for God’s great plans. (Look at Mary)
Women in general, like to base our beliefs about God and other’s around us on how they make us feel. While we need to listen to our feeling we should always pay attention to them in the right context of our circumstances according to the Bible. I don’t always “feel” close to God, but I know by reading God’s word that He still loves me. And even if I am searching for the “why” would God allow this circumstance to happen, this never means that we don’t obey Gods’s commands, or what God want us to do as women. I see some women in our churches who are so insecure or looking for anyone to speak to their hearts that they forget to use discernment about false teachers.
There are numerous verses about false teachers but I give you this one as the best example given to us by Peter (in my opinion)
2 Peter 2:2-3
2 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
These ,my dear sisters, are some warnings we should heed!
I think about the women pastors I know personally. One of them was convinced that homosexuality is okay and gave me an entire book on it (United Church of Christ). She then deceived me for many years until I started to read my Bible.
Or another female church pastor who would rather not take a stand on the issue of homosexuality, but would rather talk about the posture we should take on this sin. A man who attends church under this women’s pastoral leadership dismisses the sin because he says the prophets of the Old Testament did not believe in heaven anyway, so why do we get caught up with this sin. I think to myself, “What is she teaching in this church!?”
Or when my 12 year old daughter, navigating her way through 7th grade, says a boy in her class is saying he is gay. She says he tells the girls this but not the boys. Why is this? I know why, because girls care and through their caring they can be deceived. It’s one of the things God has created us to be.. caring but if we are not careful we will be deceived. (No I am not saying men are not caring, we just tend to be more nurturing). A girl might say, “well if this is how you feel, just be yourself I guess.” If we don’t say this then others may look at us as unloving and women love to be loved!
Or other women who I know and respect who just ignore their children’s sin because their acceptance of their children is way more important then their child’s eternity. Yes we are to focus on what is good and righteous…and we need to have a serious talk with our children, wives, or husbands about their alcohol abuse, their homosexual lifestyle, their bad language, their refusal to lead their families, their pride, ungodly anger, their lust for other women (the “you can look, but don’t touch” mentality) their love of money over God or family, etc…. whatever it maybe. We ignore because we don’t know what to do or say. Or we justify our apathy by not defending our faith with the It Will All Pan Out in The End Theory. I am telling you God will judge us when we die and I wonder why we would never say anything to the people we love knowing that their eternity is at stake.
Ephesians 5:11-12 “Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.”
My husband compromised Biblical teaching at the beginning of our marriage in order to show me how much he loves me. This is also not okay you can find what ever you want in the Bible to justify your sin. Be careful of this.
I too have admitted and repented of being a temptress in seducing my husband, but the difference is that he was a Christian and I was not at the time. For the longest time I was the head coach of our home and really I didn’t even let him be the assistant unless I thought it would get me what I wanted. When this happens in a home or in a church this is what the hierarchy looks like.
(you can replace husband with man and wife with women it is appropriate)
1 Corinthians 14:33-35 for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. 34 Let the women keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but let them subject themselves, just as the Law also says. 35 And if they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church.
I know that women will not like this. They might reply that the women were uneducated back then. And yes they were, but when I read Genesis 3:16 HE WILL RULE OVER YOU. This was God saying this to Eve about her husband, I am okay with this. It’s God’s plan from the beginning and we need to follow it or we are sinning. I liked this quote from Denzel on our role as helper/assistant coach. We Ladies need to be the encourager for our husbands and believe in him. This is our true role as assistance coach. There are roles we can play in the church but this will be for another day. There are also Bible verses about Elders and Deacons that would go along with this, also for another day. I would encourage you to look them up in your Bible. To sum it up ladies we are not to speak over men in anyway. We are allowed to speak to them. Hopefully you can see the difference.
Some of the last words in the Bible and a warning for all of us. Revelation 22:18 “And I solemnly declare to everyone who hears the words of prophecy written in this book: If anyone adds anything to what is written here, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book. And if anyone removes any of these words from this book of prophecy God will remove that person’s share in the tree of life and in the holy city that are described in this book.”
My last suggestion is if you are participating in any false teaching stop and ask for forgiveness. Do not pass your book along. Burn it or throw it away! Stop following these false teachers- men or women, no matter how beautiful the pictures are or how beautiful the writing is. The Bible is very clear about the consequences of participating in sinful teachings.
Finally, pray for these women. We may be able to pick up a book from them again, but only if they are truly teaching and writing the truth of God’s word. They also must repent from their sin. Pray for discernment and that you may be cleansed from any false teaching that has now captured your mind. I hope you all experience God’s love in a way that is true today. God bless.
